Parents have a night out!  Kids will enjoy pizza & a trip to Southland Bowling, grades K-5th!  Fabtastic Friday is Sept. 10, 6:00-9:30 p.m. Please register your child by Wednesday, September 8. New Small Group Study

God wants to use what he blessed you with to be a blessing to others. Don't bury your talents. Use them to serve and bless others. Christ Church is committed to serving people in our community, offering God's healing to them and us. 

Harrison Elementary: a mentoring program for children ages K-5th grades.  Harrison serves some of the poorest children in Lexington.  To learn more about volunteering or being a sponsor, go here or contact Nancy Martin, nmartin2101(at)msn.com.

Room In the Inn: provides friendship, food and shelter for homeless men from the Lexington area.  Contact Tim Bischoff, timothybischoff(at)yahoo.com  for more info.

The Jesus Cupboard: offers emergency food and oher services for those in need in Lexington.  Contact Janiel Gammon, janiel2452(at)insightbb.com for more info.

Canaan House Ministry: provides friendship and support to a local group home for the chronically mentally ill.  Contact John Story, john.story(at)kctcs.edu for more info.  

Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home is a place where the 24:15 adult small group services once a month, and this September the group was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award by the Methodist Home.  The group throws cook-outs and special parties for the residents developing friendships that make a difference in the children's lives and the group has helped the Home with repairs, etc.  Click on the 24:15 group to find out more about when this small group meets and how you can join them.

Pine Meadows Nursing Home: Our children's ministry serves regularly on the first Wednesday of each month.  Christ Church kids play games with the residents, plant flowers, lead art projects, sing, and pray with the residents. Nathaniel Mission is a place where our 4th & 5th graders are in ministry with the Nathaniel Mission children on Wednesday nights at the first of the month.  This ministry is hoping to develope a singing group with the MIssion and explore other possible avenues of working together in minstry.  If you are interested in finding out more contact Martha Shannon, campshannon(at)insightbb.com.

Christ Church's Global Outreach

Costa Rica: John & Bessie Ott are missionaries in La Fortuna, Costa Rica.  Here they run a Christian Camp, Casi Cielo, (Almost Heaven) where local groups of all kinds enjoy a place for retreat in the heart of the Costan Rican mountains.  Also American youth and adult teams go to Casi Cielo to help the Otts and the Costa Ricans with construction projects and children camps, etc.

India: Ghuna Kumar and his family are missionaries in India where Ghuna runs an orphanage, ministry of job empowerment for women, and evangelism throughout India.

India: Richard Samuels and family: Richard and his famly run a school and orphanage. Together, this family is on the front grounds of helping and transforming the lives of hunderds of Indians. 

Czech Republic - Ben Bowman: Ben is serving in Prague as a teacher through the Teach Beyond program. While there, he has the opportunity to serve as a mentor and nourish the lives of youth around him, both educationally and spiritually. Dominican Republic - Jeff Rogers and family: Jeff, Vicki, and their three children serve via G.O. International throughout the Dominican Republic. They are involved in logistics for short-term teams (of all groups and sizes). Visit their blog for more information, heartsinhispaniola.blogspot.com.

Zimbabwe - Janie Roberts: involved with Project HOPE via Cornerstone in Mutare, Zimbabwe. Helping out at a local orphanage is one of the many of Jamie's opportunities to show love and God's grace to those around her. For more information visit Jamie's blog at www.hopeofzim.blogspot.com
