Harrison Elementary
Another school year is starting for our Harrison Elementary Mission Outreach. Last year, our whole team was impacted by the lives of these young children. While they improved their reading skills and found God, some for the first time, we watched as our own personal experience and faith in God grew. The children and adults shared Christian community as we blessed each other and prayed for each other. Two children accepted Christ in their lives at their home churches and one accepted Christ during an afternoon devotion time.
We want more volunteers during the 2009-2010 school year so this special “one-on-one” program can reach even more children at Harrison. With each new mentor we add to the team, comes another child whose life can be enriched by simply words of encouragement and time spent together.
How to help the children at Harrison!
-Volunteer one afternoon a week at Harrison during the school year, 3:30-5:00 p.m. This will begin in October and last through the end of the school year.
-Prepare snacks and occasional special treats
-Drive the van 5:00-5:45 p.m. to take the children home
-Share a favorite hobby or skill in the school year such as dancing, wood-working, exercise, cooking, painting, etc.
-Help with field trips & special outings, i.e., help get families to CC special events or help with field trips, etc.
-Pray for the lives of the children at Harrison
-Sponsor a child by being a prayer partner with the mentor and a provider with the mentor of occassional practical needs like school supplies
