Harrison Elementary

Christ Church has a mission ministry at Harrison Elementary School in downtown Lexington. Our purpose at Harrison is to promote academic and social success through character building and increasing student's self-esteem by encouraging reading achievement, improving behavior, and creating a positive environment for students through sports/activities, and character building lessons.

Currently our ministry at Harrison is serving nine students every Thursday afternoon from the time school gets out at 3:15 pm to 5:00 pm. Our time building relationships with the students begins by fellowshiping over a snack when the students gather at the end of the school day. Next the students participate in a creative project such as drawing, painting, coloring...etc. Then we spend about 30 minutes reading with and to the students. Following the reading time the students have free time out doors on the playground (weather permitting) or in the school gym before we close with a devotion and prayer.
