LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
Assurance Care Center is a program involved in the care and aid of pregnant women. It is a place of refuge where questions can be answered and guidance can be sought, without worry or prejudice. Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful opportunity to give back and help those less fortunate in your community. This ecumenical organization is actively on the front lines to eliminate substandard housing and strengthening communities. For more information, visit www.lexhabitat.org.
The Harrison Elementary After-School Mentoring Ministry for children ages K-5th grades runs throughout the school year. Harrison is a school that serves some of the poorest children in Lexington. The Jesus Cupboard provides emergency food for those in need in Lexington. This program can also provide gas and bus money for those that need help with transportation. For more information, contact Joanne Rojas, lacasarojas(at)gmail.com.
Kentucky United Methodist Home for Children & Youth is a place where the 24:15 adult small group services once a month. The Lexington Rescue Mission seeks to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the poor and homeless in Lexington. They are available to those in need through clothing, food, education, health care, recovery options, and more. For more information, visit www.lexingtonrescue.org.
The Nathaniel Mission operates a free clinic, provides a place for spiritual growth, overall holistic care, and is actively involved in strengthening its neighbors in need, through a variety of different programs. GLOBAL CONNECTIONS
Costa Rica – John and Bessie Ott: Christ Church members and missionaries to La Fortuna, Costa Rica. There they run a Christian camp, Casi Cielo (Almost Heaven) Local groups enjoy a place to retreat in the heart of the mountains. American youth and adult teams are also involved in camp Casi Cielo, helping the Otts and the Costa Ricans with construction projects, children camps, and more!

Czech Republic – Ben Bowman: Ben is serving in Prague as a teacher through the Teach Beyond program. While there, he has the opportunity to serve as a mentor and nourish the lives of youth around him, both educationally and spiritually. Dominican Republic – Jeff Rogers and family: Jeff, Vicki, and their three daughters serve via G.O. International throughout the Dominican Republic. They are involved in logistics for short-term teams (of all groups and sizes) and empowering local churches and leaders in Hispaniola and Haiti. India – Ghuna & Jaya Kumar: Ghuna and Jaya minister in Southern India through the Living Hope Bible College, Dorcas Sewing Ministry, and orphanage care in three homes serving over two hundred orphans. Through Living Hope they train native Indians to become pastors and evangelists. Dorcas is a job empowerment ministry for over 80 women a year. This family is actively involved in the process of restoring and uplifting hundreds of Indians, of all ages and genders. India – Richard Samuels and family: Richard and Annie minister in Southern India through the Sahayam Home for elderly and destitute women and run a home for children and families effected by HIV. Zimbabwe – Janine Roberts: Janine is actively involved with Project HOPE via Cornerstone in Mutare, Zimbabwe.
