Ash Wednesday Worship & Lenten Devotions
Ash Wednesday begins the Lenten season-the forty days before Easter, not counting Sundays. Sundays are not included because those are days set aside to celebrate the resurrection. Lent focuses on the Cross.
To begin this important season, Christ Church will hold an Ash Wednesday Service March 1st at 6:30 p.m. at 2356 Harrodsburg Road, Activities Building, Fireside Room. Watch for signs to the location.
Tradition will be followed for this service; therefore, along with music and a short message, ashes will be placed on the individual foreheads of those that would like to participate in this symbolic act. Ashes represent our acknowledgment of our sin which is ever before us, while we still remember Christ’s sacrifice, God’s grace, given to us covering our sins and making us clean and new.
Come for this special time to belong and become as we prepare our hearts for the Lenten season focusing on the Cross of Jesus Christ.
