The greatest joy and responsibility of the staff at Christ Church is to use their gifts and talents to build up and empower the congregation to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ. We want to make disciples of all nations, create environments and ministry opportunities that glorify Jesus, and stir the members of our spiritual family so they’ll display the power of the gospel wherever they live, work, and play.
Lead Pastor: Marco Ballesteros
Marco was born in Mexico City. Some of his greatest passions are discipleship, helping people develop a passionate relationship with Jesus, and empowering emerging leaders to serve God through their gifts and talents. He and his amazing wife, Jessica, have three children: Gaby, Ana, and Samuel. They enjoy helping their children’s unique personalities grow and mature to make a difference in this world for Jesus. Some of their favorite activities are spending time outdoors, board games, and movie night!
Children & Family Pastor: Brenda Story
Brenda has a passion for helping children and their families discover God and live everyday life with joy and on mission. With her husband John, they seek out how to do that together. John is a clinical psychologist and professor at BCTCS. She also has a son Daniel and daughter-in-law, Catelynn. Brenda enjoys the outdoors, hiking, swimming, and hanging out for coffee or game nights.
Youth Pastor: Andy McSpadden
Andy received his seminary training from Asbury Theological Seminary and has served as youth pastor since May of 1999. Alyssa, his wife, is an intervention teacher for Fayette County. They are the parents of three boys, Wilson, Luke, and Tyler. Andy loves outdoor adventure sports such as backpacking, rappelling, biking, and rock climbing. Andy has a passion for working with students and seeing them come into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ and mature in their faith.
Christ Church is led by a team made up of the pastoral staff and the representatives of the main ministries of the church to pursue and uphold our Mission, Vision, and Values. They prayerfully help, discern, and make strategic and organizational decisions in our community of faith. These are people committed to the cause of Jesus who have a heart for service and a sense of urgency to reach the lost by the power of Jesus through each of the different expressions of Christ’s Church.
Prayer Team
This team mobilizes congregation members to cover the church with prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving.
Missions Team
They are responsible for prayerfully identifying, nurturing, and envisioning ministry opportunities for our community of faith to serve and invest in the lives of the “least of these.”
Youth Ministry
Christ Church Youth is a community for middle and high school students. The community is called to Reach out and Care for students so together they may Mature in their faith and Act on the teachings of Christ in order to Elevate the Lord!
Children and Family Ministry
Our team believes God’s plan is for the spiritual growth of children (and teens) to begin at home. So, we see our role as coming alongside the parents as they lead their families to follow Jesus. Our Parent Network exists to support them as they instruct and share their faith stories and God experiences with their families. We also empower parents to live as Jesus’ followers wherever they live, work, and play. For their children, we provide experiences and milestones that help them grow in their faith, build genuine community with one another, and seek out and follow Jesus.
Staff Parish Relationships Team
As its name says, this is the team responsible for ensuring a healthy relationship between the staff members and the congregation, as well as hiring and firing staff members. It is also responsible to ensure the staff’s spiritual and emotional health. In a few words, this team has similar responsibilities to those of the Human Resources Department.
Trustees Team
They are responsible for the stewardship of the physical assets of the congregation and the legal aspects related to the property at Christ Church. Their responsibilities also involve ensuring the safety and security of the building and the church property.
